Bitdeer to Deploy 28 MW at Soluna’s Texas Wind-Powered Bitcoin Mine

Bitdeer (NASDAQ: BTDR) has agreed to deploy about 28 megawatts of Bitcoin mining equipment at a wind-powered Soluna (NASDAQ: SLNH) data center in South Texas, expanding the miner’s use of third-party sites under a revenue-sharing model.

The installation at Soluna’s Project Kati 1 is expected to add about 1.93 EH/s of computing capacity, according to a statement on Tuesday. Deployment is due to begin in September and ramp up in batches.

Bitdeer will supply and retain ownership of its Sealminer A2 Pro Air machines. Soluna will provide the site, electricity and operations, with the companies sharing the mining proceeds generated by the equipment. The statement didn’t disclose the length of the agreement, the division of proceeds, anticipated revenue or either company’s investment under the arrangement.

Project Kati 1 is an 83-megawatt data center in Willacy County supplied by the Las Majadas wind project. It began operating in February, and Soluna completed an initial 48-megawatt section in April, which Galaxy Digital filled, according to Soluna’s first-quarter filing.

Soluna said this month that Kati 1 generated its first positive gross profit during the second quarter. Companywide revenue rose to $15.1 million, up 60% from the previous quarter, helped by the ramp-up at Kati and contributions from another Texas site. Soluna nevertheless remains in a capital-intensive expansion phase as it develops additional Bitcoin mining and AI infrastructure.

For Bitdeer, the planned installation builds on a co-mining business in which company-owned machines are operated at third-party data centers.

Bitdeer reported 15.9 EH/s of co-mining capacity and 56,000 rigs under such arrangements in June, alongside 73 EH/s of self-mining capacity. The proposed Kati deployment is equivalent to about 12% of its reported June co-mining hash rate, though that fleet may change before the Texas equipment is fully installed.
