Key Takeaways
- The $60 million acquisition includes industrial buildings and land in Yadkin County, North Carolina, intended for retrofit into the NC-2 and NC-3 data center campuses.
- Closing is contingent on confirming energy capacity and completing an energy study verifying the potential for up to 198 MW of total power within seven years.
WhiteFiber has agreed to acquire two industrial properties in North Carolina for $60 million, adding sites that could initially provide 60 megawatts of gross utility capacity as the company expands its artificial-intelligence infrastructure business.
The properties in Yadkin County would be converted into data-center campuses called NC-2 and NC-3, WhiteFiber said in an Aug. 17 statement. Initial service is targeted for the third quarter of 2027, subject to completion of the purchase and customary development requirements. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
Preliminary due diligence indicates the two sites could eventually support about 200 megawatts of combined gross utility capacity, according to the company. They are about 55 miles from WhiteFiber’s NC-1 campus in Madison, allowing the developer to draw on its existing contractors, operating experience and regional relationships.
WhiteFiber said it is in advanced discussions with prospective customers and has received nonbinding letters of intent backed by investment-grade credit. It didn’t identify the prospective tenants, disclose the properties’ size or name the seller. The company also gave no estimate for development spending or details on how it plans to fund the cash purchase.
